Bob met is wife during his junior year of high school and got married on September 7, 1996. Bob’s first daughter Cassidy was born on August 30, 1998 and his second daughter was born November 29, 2000. Bob’s two girls are his pride and joy and feels very blessed to have them.
Bob started racing go karts with his father-in-law Barry Gammon in 1995. Bob raced go karts for 1 season and then helped Barry with his kart until they started racing cars in April of 2001. Bob won Rookie of the Year in 2001 in the Wildcat division and received Beech Ridge’s Most Outstanding Driver Award. Bob finished second in points in the Wildcat division in 2003 missing his championship by 2 points.
The 2004 season was a tough season for Bob and Barry as they had decided to move up to the Sport Series division. This division is the most competitive divisions to race in at Beech Ridge. Bob finished the 2004 season in 22nd in points. The 2005 season proved to be a much better season for Bob as he finished 10th in points.
The 2006 season is where Bob’s racing skills became very apparent. He spent the first four months of the racing season in the top 5 in points. August proved to be a rough month with Bob being involved in a 13 car pileup on the back stretch causing him to have his first DNF of the season. This accident took him from 5th to 12th in points. Bob’s team worked very hard to get his race car back to the front. Bob finished 4th and 5th in the last two races of the season to finish 9th in points.
During the 2007 season Bob raced at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway full time and raced in the PASS (Pro All Star Series) Sportsman Series Tour. Bob finished 10th in points at Beech Ridge and 6th in points for the PASS tour. Bob drove the same car for both racing series without missing a race. He was the only BRMS car that accomplished this. Bob received the PASS Sportsmanship award for the Sportsman Series division for 2007.
The 2008 racing season was the roughest season Bob has ever had. His car got was involved in more wrecks that all his previous years put together. The field of cars changed drastically and Bob was always in the wrong place. If it wasn’t for bad luck he wouldn’t have had any. Bob’s door post has riding with God and that was so true during the 2008 season!
Bob is excited about 2009 his car has a new look and hopefully luck will be on his side. Bob plans to race at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway full time and might run a few of the PASS Sportseries events. Bob had an ok season in 2009.
Bob is looking forward to running the PASS tour this 2010 season and the Beech Ridge 100 Lap race. The first race event is at Speedway 95 on April 18th. Bob wouldn't be able to race if it wasn't for his father in law, family and sponsors. Thank you to all of them.
